Dehradun : Second workshop

Workshop in Dehradun, September 26, 2008

The second J2J briefing organised by IMCFJ took place in the capital city of the state of Uttarakhand, Dehradun, on Friday, September 26th, 2008. More than 50 journalists were present and 20 Master students in Mass Communication from Institute of Media Studies (IMS) a leading journalism school in Dehradun. The journalists were from Uttarakhand and West Uttar pradesh, the target region of the briefing.

The agenda was slightly different from the one in Varanasi, with more short movies about the specific tobacco issues in India and definitely more space to discussion between the audience and the speakers.

Following the meeting, IMCFJ members and J2J faculty were invited by the Commissioner of Musoorie, the popular hill resort, 25 kilometres from Dehradun to help the city of Musoorie go smoke free before October 2. IMCFJ convener, Ashutosh Singh and resident representative, Dhananjay Singh in Musoorie assured the members of the Municipal Corporation that they will help in creating awareness and ensuring that broadbased support is given to smokefree initiatives.
